I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist with the Institute of Clinical Hypnosis in London, and am a member of The Hypnotherapy Association, upholding their code of ethics. I have also trained in Reflexology and Swedish Massage and studied Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

I live locally in Newbury and have resided in the UK since 1998. I was born in New Zealand where I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Victoria University, in Psychology and Criminology and have a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

I believe it is so important to look after our own health - physically, mentally and emotionally. The lives that we lead today are so busy that it is easy to neglect our health needs and to allow stress and disease to take over. Through complementary therapy we can help relieve stress and learn to deal with issues that are negatively affecting our well-being and impacting on our quality of life.

If you have any queries about hypnotherapy or reflexology, please email me ( leonieremington@hotmail.com) or call me on 07951 623 656.

HYPNOTHERAPY

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnosis is a state of deep mental and physical relaxation in which awareness of the senses becomes heightened and memory is often enhanced. At the same time you remain conscious of everything that is going on around, and contrary to popular belief, in complete control. This state of relaxation allows inner resources, memories and emotions that are typically not available to the conscious mind to be accessed. This connection enables the causes of problems, or other obstacles to be identified and treated or behaviour modified.

Essentially there are two types of treatment using hypnosis. The therapy used will depend largely on the nature of the problem or obstacle to be overcome, and the individual being treated.

SUGGESTION THERAPY involves the giving of suggestions to change addictive behaviour or to modify a particular reaction. Typically 1-5 sessions are required for this type of therapy and occasionally a booster session is beneficial.

ANALYTICAL THERAPY is used to discover the root cause of psychological problems or barriers. By dealing with the fundamental causes the issue can be resolved. This form of therapy allows you to release pent-up emotions in a positive and supportive environment, enabling you to move forward without carrying the burden of past traumas. The number of sessions required depends entirely on the individual and the nature of the problem.

In your first session a detailed case history is taken, and specific problems are discussed. This results in a treatment plan that best suits your needs being drawn up. Within this treatment plan your goals are set, as is the criteria upon which you will measure progress towards your goals. This session lasts an hour and provides the framework for your future hypnotherapy sessions.
