Les Hargreaves trophy.

The contest was a Nassau event with prizes for the Front Nine holes, the Back Nine holes and the overall score.

As well as this there was a nearest the pin contest on the 5th hole which had an interesting relationship with Les! The winner of this was Rob Martin who converted his putt to make the only two of the day!

Winner of the front nine with a score of 28 was Sid Edwards while the back nine was taken by Jane Connor with 27.

The overall winner was Jane Connor with a total of 57 closely followed by Rob Martin on 60 and Steven Vale on countback with 64.

Who is this?

Have you heard this one ?

Three contractors were submitting estimates to replace a large amount of fencing in a large country house. The estate manager got them all together so that he could study their bids. The first one took out his tape and measured how much fencing would be needed. He then produced a note book and pencil and proceeded to do some calculations before turning to the estate manager and telling him, “I reckon that with the materials and labour, I can do it for £900”.

The second contractor did much the same as the first one and after a while he said, “My estimate for the job, including materials and labour would be £800 all in”.

The estate manager looked at the third contractor and asked him what his estimate would be. The man didn't move at all, but said to the manager, “£2800”.

“£2800?” said the manager, “but you haven't even bothered to measure up. How did you arrive at that figure?” The man took the managers arm and walked him a few paces away from the other contractors and said to him quietly, “That's a thousand for me, a thousand for you, and you get the second bloke to do the fencing”.

“Done” said the manager.

 ( Musings from The Elders)

21/05/25

Good afternoon all,

17 of us played an AJ best 2 scores to count. What threatened to be a wet morning actually turned out fine and bright with only a tiny bit of drizzle early on. We welcomed a new attendee, Peter Willaims (not to be confused with other Peter Williams's!)

In ascending order the results were as follows:

1st with 85 points, Rod Spring, Keith Endersby and James Gould

2nd with 82 points, Colin Cox, John Larch, Sid Edwards & Dave Milsom

3rd with 78 points, Keith Count, Adrian Little & Nigel Connor.

4th with 77.3 points James Fisher, Bevan Metcalf, Peter Williams & Bob Martin.

5th with 77 points and I thought terribly unlucky to miss out on the top spot,

Tom Wallin, Brian Earle and Richard Tripp.

Best round of the day was Dave Milsom with 40 points closely followed by Rob Martin on 39 points, Keith E. on 38 points and a gaggle of players, Sid, Bevan, John Larch Keith Count and James Gould on 37 points.

see you all soon!

Richard T.

Did I?

Play Golf or just spoil another walk?

As you walk off the course next time ask yourself the following questions:

Did I enjoy myself?

Have I signed my card?

Did I replace my divots and repair my pitch marks?

You should answer YES to them all!
