December Stableford / Eclectic.

It was no real surprise that there was a very small entry for this competition too.

Foul weather!

The difficult  conditions saw some good scores so well done all for completing the course again!

Who is this?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you heard this one ?

Went to town on the bus this morning and there was a mother with a small boy sitting in front of me.

The boy kept hanging over the back of his seat and pulling faces at me.

I said to him, "My mother always told me that if I pulled faces like that the wind would change and I would stay that way."

Cheeky sod said, "Well you can't say you did not have fair warning."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who said?

The game is an absolutely closed book to me and I wouldn't even know which end to swing a caddie!

Was it:

a)  Frank Carson

b)  Jimmy Tarbuck                        or

c)  Denis Norden       ?

Wednesday Wizards.

 ( Musings from The Elders)

10 / 12 / 25

I awoke with a start at 5 this morning having realised that I'd completely forgotten to write the Wednesday golf report!

Somebody must have spiked my brussel sprouts with alcohol as I fell fast asleep on my return from the golf at Donnington Valley  on Wednesday afternoon and in my slumber, all memory of duties and responsibilities evaporated

However, 13 of us took advantage of a delightful and lucky window in the weeks rain to play a pre-lunch 9 at the Valley (or whatever it's called  today) I managed to rescue the cards from the re-cycling this morning in the dark and here are the results.

3 teams of 3 and a 4-ball played a 9 hole Stableford, all scores to count.

In 4th place with 33 points. Brendan, Nigel & Richard T.

3rd place with 35 points Gordon D. Rob M. and Tony F.

2nd place, with 36.75 points James F. Keith E.  Dave & Robin.

(with a warm welcome back to Keith)

the winners with 37 points were Adrian, Nick B. and Rod.

Going out first with Nigel & Brendan we decided to sit on the benches with a coffee and heckle the teams errant tee shots on the 9th.

However 7 of us parred the 9th and Dobo got a 2! All the rest were 4's.  Imagine our disappointment, Christmas is no fun anymore.

Adrian managed 4 points on the 9th, which was half of his total tally for the round of 8!

Best 9 of the day was Robin with 14 points.

Merry Christmas all

Richard T.

Good morning all....... again.

(Note to self.

1) send out reports in a timely manner

2) eat fewer alcoholic brussel sprouts

3) make sure you read the cards with your glasses on.)

I inadvertently reported Adrian Nick & Rod had 37 points. In fact it was 27 points and they were last.

In first place was the 4 ball, James, Keith, Dave & Robin with 36.75 points.

In my defence I might request some people practise writing a number 2. (It still looks like a 3 to me!)

Regards

Richard T.

Did I?

Play Golf or just spoil another walk?

As you walk off the course next time ask yourself the following questions:

Did I enjoy myself?

Have I signed my card?

Did I replace my divots and repair my pitch marks?

You should answer YES to them all!
